Hello, !
This is the ninth in a series of brief, daily emails I'm sending during October -- global ADHD Awareness Month. Each features a quote that relates to ADHD and
neurodiversity.
Remember, what you pay attention to grows. Convert the thoughts and beliefs that serve you well into a new, dominant
programming that can create positive momentum to move you closer to your vision.
-David Giwerc, Founder
of ADD Coach Academy, from Permission to Proceed: The Keys to Creating a Life of Passion, Purpose, and Possibility for Adults with ADHD
Individuals with ADHD receive 20,000 more negative messages over their lifetimes than people without ADHD or similar challenges, estimates Dr. William Dodson. When our "dominant programming" is negative, it can take a great deal of effort to shift our focus to the positive.
Researchers
have found that human brains have a "negativity bias" that results in negative messages having much more impact than positive. In fact, it takes five positive messages to have the impact on our brains of one negative message.
Cultivating a habit of paying attention to the positive in our lives can feel
challenging, especially at the start, but it is well worth the effort. The more we look for positives, the more we will find!
Until tomorrow, Linda |
